Hubbs-Sea World Research Institute is performing acoustic research in the Indian River Lagoon and needs some on-site data gathering. Specifically, needed are volunteers who will be able to make audio recordings using equipment supplied by the Institute, from assigned locations on a regular basis and, as appropriate, assist with data archiving and analyses.
The Objectives of this study are to 1)Develop a library of underwater sound recordings at various locations in the Indian River Lagoon; 2) Compare sounds recorded during different times of the day, different seasons and different years; 3) Involve the local community in a scientific research project and to educate the community about underwater sounds.
If you are interested in taking part in this study, please speak with Debbie Episcopo or Dr. Dan O’Dell in the HSWRI office at 407-370-1650.
